Roy D. Brod, M.D.
Dr. Brod is a native of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Temple University School of Medicine with honors and completed an internship in internal medicine at the Presbyterian-University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Following the internship, Dr. Brod did a residency in Ophthalmology at the prestigious LSU Eye Center in New Orleans. He then went on to complete a Retina Fellowship at the world renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Medical Center. Following graduation from the retina fellowship program at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Dr. Brod joined the staff in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Geisinger Medical Center as a retina specialist where he was responsible for teaching students and residents, clinical research, and a medical and surgical retina practice. In 1991, Dr. Brod moved to Lancaster. Dr. Brod has published more than 45 peer reviewed journal articles and 17 book chapters. He has received numerous honors and awards including Honor awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He was voted by his peers to be included in the Best Doctors in America. He is involved in clinical research and has participated in several clinical trials including the initial phase 3 clinical trials showing the effectiveness of Lucentis for macular degeneration. Dr. Brod is on the clinical faculty at the Penn State-Hershey Medical Center.
